Box Score WILBERFORCE, Ohio – Central State closed the night on a 10-2 surge to down Davis & Elkins, 61-58 on Thursday.
Wesley Sprinkle paced the Senators with 11 points. Kevin Bracy-Davis added 10 points. Aleksandar Vasiljevic pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.
Sterling Gilmore posted 21 points to lead the Marauders. Masceo Harmon finished with 13 points. Jeremy Brown reeled in 10 rebounds.
D&E turned the ball over 22 times, leading to 25 points for Central State. Davis & Elkins held a 38-30 advantage on the glass and outscored the Marauders 19-9 in bench points.
CSU pulled ahead 13-5 early in the opening half. Back-to-back threes from Juwan Strothers and Sprinkle made the score 17-15. T.J. Guthrie and Bracy-Davis buried back-to-back shots from beyond the arc, putting D&E on top 28-27, but Gilmore connected on a pair of threes to give CSU a 33-29 lead at the break.
The Marauders extended their lead to 46-37 with just under 11 minutes to play. The Senators stormed back with a 19-5 blitz, which included a pair of Logan Coats threes to pull ahead, 56-51. Central State scored the next eight points, taking the lead for good on a traditional three point play from Harmon, to make the score 59-56. Davis & Elkins had multiple opportunities to retake the lead in the final minute, but couldn't convert, as Central State squeaked out the 61-58 victory.
D&E travels to Cedarville on Saturday at 4 p.m.
