Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. –Sharmaine Baker and Ashley Bowles combined for 44 points to lead Davis & Elkins to a 90-82 win over Alderson Broaddus on Senior Day.
Baker and Bowles each netted 22 points for the afternoon. Fellow senior, Maquasia Ferebee, ripped down 10 rebounds. Mary Jane Braham (12) and Stephanie Wooten (10) also added double figures for the Senators. Baker became the second player in both D&E and G-MAC history to eclipse the 500-point mark in a single season.
Sydney Shaffer (21) and Erica Brooks (15) posted double-digits for the Battlers.
Davis & Elkins won the rebounding battle, 47-36. The Senators translated 18 offensive rebounds into 21 second chance points. AB made 16-of-34 (47 percent) attempts from beyond the arc.
Davis & Elkins turned a 16-14 deficit into a 28-16 lead with a 14-0 run. Baker and Bowles teamed up to score all 14 points. A 23-4 surge by the Senators extended the advantage to its largest of the day at 51-23. Alderson Broaddus scored 11 of the final 14 points in the half to cut the margin to 55-34.
AB chipped the lead down to eight with 10 second half threes, but the deficit was too much to overcome, as D&E held on for the 90-82 victory.
The D&E women travel to Cedarville on Thursday to begin the G-MAC Tournament against Central State at 7:30 p.m.
