Inside the Numbers:
- The Senators opened the game outscoring UC 14-7 with four three-pointers from Aleksandar Vasiljevic, Kevin Bracy-Davis, Kevin Simpson and Wesley Sprinkle.
- However, the Golden Eagles went on a 13-6 run to tie the game at 20-20. Gino DiTrapano scored five of his game-high 24 points in the run. Cameron Dozier's three-point bucket put UC ahead 23-20 with 12:08 remaining in the first half and the Golden Eagles never relinquished the lead. It was their first lead since the opening basket by Justin Coleman just 29 seconds into the game.
- UC outscored the Senators 19-6 in the final 7:42 of the first half to build a 50-31 advantage.
- DiTrapano quickly made it a 20-point lead with the first baskets of the second half with a three-pointer at the 18:09 mark. UC built their largest lead of the game 72-45 with 9:10 remaining in the game on an Aleksander Kesic three-point play with the layup and bonus free throw.
- D&E finally regrouped on both the offensive and defensive ends mounting a 16-0 run over the next 3:04 to cut the lead to 72-61. Sprinkle had nine of his 17 points in the game during the run, while Vasiljevic added a layup and three-pointer. A critical point in the run was following a pair of Sprinkle free throws, DiTrapano turned the ball over, but UC head coach Dwaine Osborne challenged the official saying a D&E player kicked the ball. The ref turned away the challenge asking Osborne to stop, but he kept on and was whistled for a technical. This gave Sprinkle two more attempts at the charity stripe and he made both and then on the possession sank a three-pointer.
- DiTrapano responded with a layup and Javonte Hughes who scored 19 off the bench for the Golden Eagles added two free throws to thwart the run rebuilding a 15-point lead at 76-61 with 4:41 to go. The Senators were unable to get the lead to single digits but did outscore CU 46-43 in the second half.
- CU shot 50.8% from the floor and better from long-range 13-for-24 (54.2%), while D&E managed 42.9% from the field and just 8-for-24 from downtown (33.3%). The Golden Eagles outrebounded D&E 42-29.
