Inside the Numbers:
- Urbana opened the scoring and never surrendered the lead the entire first half. Leading 28-26, the Blue Knights went on a 15-4 run to build a 43-30 advantage. Three Urbana players scored 10 points apiece including Jahmere Howze, and Kevin Fisher and Matt Csuhran off the bench. The Blue Knights outscored D&E 27-11 off the bench in the half.
- The Senators were able to narrow the gap to 44-38 at the half behind an 8-1 run on a jumper from Edmund Parker and a pair of three-pointers from Wesley Sprinkle and Aleksandar Vasiljevic.
- D&E picked up where they left off opening the second half with an 8-0 run in the first two minutes to take their first lead of the game 48-46.
- The teams traded leads over the next nine minutes at were knotted at 70-0 with 8:41 to go. However, D&E went on a 10-2 run to lead 80-72 with 5:01 remaining.
- Urbana fought their way back behind six straight points from Howze, who finished with 26 points and 10 boards, to reclaim the lead 86-83 with 1:48 left.
- Trailing 88-85 with 17 seconds remaining, the Senators Teron Owens tied the game at 88-88. Urbana had two shots to win the game in regulation but Austin Evans couldn't captilize on his two shots from the charity stripe after being fouled just before time expired.
- After falling behind on a Howze jumper on Urbana's first possession in overtime, D&E Vasiljevic hit his second three of the game to put the Senators ahead 91-90 and they never relinquished the lead for the remainder of the OT. Vasiljevic finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while D&E posted its best effort from beyond the arc hitting 8-of-16 in the game.
- Urbana cut the lead to one-point three times in the overtime at the 1:51, 0:45 and 0:08 marks, but D&E withstood the challenges with a Sprinkle jumper and timely free throw makes by Bracy-Davis and Vasiljevic. Sprinkle registered 18 points, six assists and four boards, while Bracy-Davis finished with a team-high 23 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.
- Csuhran closed out the game for the Blue Knights with a game-high 28 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Senator Synopsis:
"I'm so proud of our effort and ecstatic for these kids, they deserved this one," D&E Head Coach Nick Patella said. "We still have a ways to go and have to get better defensively but we'll enjoy this win and learn from it."
