How it Happened

• D&E jumped out quickly to build a 17-4 lead in game one primarily behind their block which posted 24 block assists and two solos on the evening.  They went on to win game one 25-9 and limited SIU to -.296 hitting.
• Game two was much closer, D&E trailed 3-2 early in the game but went on a 8-3 run to lead 10-6.  They pushed their lead to 19-14 and then kills by Haylee Murray, a pair of Kendall Jacobson service aces and two Devin Saucy kills put D&E ahead 24-15 and went on to win 25-17.  
• Freshman Alexa Smarra recorded two of her three kills in the third game to secure a 10-4 Senator early advantage.  SIU cut the lead to 17-15, but a combination of attack errors by the Tigers who hit -.026 for the game and Smarra's third kill and a Saucy kill put the match away 25-19 for D&E. 
• The Senators Devan Saucy led the way with a .304 hitting percentage and 10 kills. Sasha Johnson posted seven kills and 10 block assists, while Elizabeth Estes had five kills and Kayla Godwin had three kills and seven block assists.
• Elle Drain led the Senators with 12 digs, Michaela Touchet aded seven digs and Haylee Murray directed the D&E offense with 26 assists.
