Box Score VIENNA, W.Va. -- Markese Allen buried a three-point field goal at the buzzer, lifting Ohio Valley to a 75-73 win over Davis & Elkins on Monday.
Kevin Bracy-Davis (16 points, 11 rebounds) and Aleksandar Vasiljevic (10 points, 15 rebounds) each finished with double-doubles. Shuaib Kamara added 15 points and Juwan Strothers finished with 10.
Allen poured in a game-high 26 points, draining 5-of-7 shots from beyond the arc. Darryl Walker tallied 21 points and David Sinickas chipped in with 11.
In a very evenly played contest, the Scots buried nine threes compared to just a pair for the Senators. D&E dominated on the glass, holding a 57-34 advantage. Both teams struggled from the charity stripe with D&E making only 19-of-30 attempts, and OVU hitting on just 16-of-25.
Davis & Elkins jumped out to a 9-1 lead, due to a strong start on the boards. Allen led the Ohio Valley response with 12 points during a 23-3 blitz which put OVU ahead, 24-12. D&E managed to trim the deficit to 37-30 at the half.
D&E overtook the Scots with a 24-6 surge in the second half, making the score 64-57. The run was aided by nine made free throws. Ohio Valley pulled even with a 6-0 sprint, capped by an Austin Parker three, to knot the game at 71-71. D&E made a pair of free throws and OVU went 1-of-2, putting the Senators ahead 73-72 with 47 ticks on the clock. After a missed three on Davis & Elkins' final possession, Jones to drilled the game-winner sending the Scots onto the 75-73 win.
The Senators welcome Cedarviile on Thursday evening in the G-MAC home opener at 7:30 p.m.
