Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins built a 21-point halftime lead and coasted to an 88-40 victory over Salem International on Saturday.
Sharmaine Baker registered a game-high 22 points. Ashley Bowles added 14 points, while Carley O'Neal finished with 10 points. Sydney Turner connected on 3-of-3 attempts from beyond the arc, to notch 10 points. Maquasia Ferebee pulled down 10 rebounds and Stephanie Wooten handed out eight assists.
Alexus Cooper led the Tigers with 13 points. Samantha Aikens added 11 points.
D&E limited SIU to 24 percent shooting (15-of-63) from the field. Davis & Elkins held a 49-36 advantage on the glass.
The Senators opened up a 16-5 lead, capped by back-to-back threes from Bowles and Carley O'Neal. Davis & Elkins added on to the lead with a 13-2 surge, making the score 31-13. D&E held a 48-27 lead at the break.
Davis & Elkins began the second half with a 15-2 surge, concluded by back-to-back threes from Turner, and rolled to the 88-40 win.
D&E looks to build on their two game win streak on Thursday when they travel to Central State.
