Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – The D&E men stopped a six-game skid on Thursday evening with an 88-78 win over Ohio Valley. The win also ended a two year stint without a victory over the Scots.
Juwan Strothers paced the Senators with 21 points. Shuaib Kamara (18), Kevin Bracy-Davis (13) and Wesley Sprinkle (10) also finished in double figures for D&E. Rickenjee Bellevue ripped down 12 rebounds.
Markese Allen led the Fighting Scots with 21 points and seven assists. Chris Hall (15), David Sinickas (14) and Darryl Walker (11) also reached double digits for OVU.
D&E dominated on the glass, holding a 47-24 advantage. The Senators continued to be plagued by turnovers (19), but were able to limit the damage as OVU managed only nine points off turnovers. Davis & Elkins connected on 31-of-56 attempts (55 percent) from the field and made 20-of-25 (80 percent) of their attempts at the charity stripe.
The Senators pulled ahead 10-5 early in the opening half. A trio of Sinickas threes sparked a 16-3 run by the Scots, making the score 21-13. D&E reeled off the next eight points, six of which came from Kamara to even the contest at 21-21. Davis & Elkins held a slim 36-35 lead at the break.
D&E built a double digit lead with a 12-2 surge led by six points from Strothers to take a 63-50 advantage. Ohio Valley never managed to get closer than eight the rest of the way, allowing the Senators to pick up the 88-78 victory.
Davis & Elkins hosts Salem International on Saturday at 4 p.m.
