Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – Bluefield State connected on 10 threes in the second half to pull away from Davis & Elkins, 80-71 on Wednesday evening.
Shauib Kamara provided a spark off the bench with a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds). Juwan Strothers notched 18 points and Wesley Sprinkle added 14.
Dajon Reno poured in a game-high 25 points. Mark Durgan added a double-double with 18 points and 11 assists. Austin Henderson tallied 14 points.
BSC nailed 14-of-35 (40 percent) attempts from beyond the arc. D&E held a slight 33-30 advantage on the glass. The Senators turned the ball over 15 times, leading to 20 Bluefield State points.
Reno sank a three to cap a 9-4 start from BSC. Kamara hit from downtown to ignite a 10-0 run from the Senators, giving D&E its largest lead of the night at 27-20. Reno and Henderson each hit threes, as BSC reeled off 14 of the next 21 points to knot the game at 34-34. The teams would go to the half deadlocked at 40-40.
The back-and-forth battle continued in the second half. BSC surged ahead with a 31-12 blitz, which included eight three-point field goals, to make the score 75-60. The Blues remained in control the remainder of the game, securing the 80-71 victory.
