Box Score 2 OWENSBORO, Ky. – Davis & Elkins and Kentucky Wesleyan split their final G-MAC doubleheader of the season. D&E claimed a 5-0 decision in game one, while KWC avoided the sweep with a 5-1 win in game two.
Brad Banzhoff plated the first run of the game with a sacricice fly in the opening frame. Lance Vannoy singled home a run in the second, making the score 2-0. A groundout in the fifth extended the lead to 3-0. Vannoy's second RBI of the day, coupled with an error, set the 5-0 margin.
Michael Paratore (4-4) pitched the complete game shutout, allowing only three hits, striking out six and walking a pair.
In game two, the Panthers scored single runs in the first and third to go in front, 2-0. Houston Darling singled in a run in the sixth, trimming the deficit to 2-1. KWC responded with a solo run in the bottom of the inning and added two more in the seventh, completing the 5-1 win.
Marcus Warner (2-7) worked seven innings, surrendering five runs on 11 hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Jake Smith allowed one hit and struck out a pair in one inning on the hill.
Davis & Elkins secured the #4 in next week's G-MAC Tournament. The Senators will face the #5 seed Cedarville at 12 p.m. on Wednesday in Cincinnati.
