VIENNA, W.Va. -- In the first elimination game of day two the Davis & Elkins Senators defeated Salem International 10-2 in five innings. Katie Mangold started the Tigers out with a single to right and Katie Chyrssofos homered to left field fence giving Salem an early 2-0 lead.
The Senators quickly rallied and took advantage of its opportunities in the bottom of the second as Salem walked two batters - Kayla Whoolery and Amber LaBille - and Kaitlyn Daugherty knocked in a run on a hit through the left side. Amanda Serafini followed with a hit to right scoring two and giving D&E the lead. Danielle Norton added an RBI-double to right field and the Senators led 4-2.
Davis & Elkins blew the game open in the fourth with five runs on six hits as Norton, Corrine Carrington, Whoolery, Chelsie Stover, LaBille, and Kaitlyn Daugherty each picked up hits in the inning for the Senators.
In the top of the fifth LaBille retired the Tigers in order, allowing D&E to finish off the game in the fifth. Ashley Dove started things off for the Senators with a single to center field and she eventually scored on Carrington single to deep right.
Davis & Elkins had 14 hits in the game including doubles by Danielle Norton (2) and Chelsie Stover. Amber LaBille pitched a complete game for the Senators giving up only five hits, no walks, and struck out four.
