Box Score 2 CANTON, Ohio – Davis & Elkins dropped a pair of non-conference games at Walsh on Tuesday . The Cavaliers walked-off a 1-0 winner on a squeeze playin game one , and wound up with a 5-1 victory in game two.
Walsh took advantage of the international tiebreaker rule to manufacturer a run with back-to-back bunts to squeeze home the winning run in the eighth inning.
Alanna Jones (6-8) suffered the loss, tossing 7.1 innings, giving up only one unearned run on two hits with five strikeouts and a pair of walks.
In game two, a D&E error led to a pair of Cavaliers crossing the plate in the bottom of the first. Corrine Carrington cut the deficit to 2-1 with a sacrifice fly in the third inning. WU extended the lead to 4-1 with a two-run single in the bottom of the inning. Walsh's second successful squeeze of the day plated the final run, setting the 5-1 margin.
Amber LaBille (3-12) yielded five runs (one earned) on eight hits with three strikeouts and a pair of walks.
Davis & Elkins hosts Cedarville on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.
