Cutshaw Named G-MAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Fifth year head coach Otis Cutshaw was rewarded by his peers for a perfect regular season by being named G-MAC women's tennis Coach of the Year.

Cutshaw led the Senators to an unblemished 8-0 mark in league play. D&E finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-5.

Junior Julia Hoehn, along with sophomores Natela Potrtsdize and Halima Michael, earned first team all-league recognition. Portsdize posted a league-best 20 wins in 22 matches, including a perfect 16-0 mark at the #3 singles. Portsdize enters the conference tournament having won 17 consecutive matches. The Metz, France native also went 17-5 in doubles. Hoehn registered a 14-7 record in singles and duplicated that tally in doubles action. Michael went 15-6 in singles play and 13-7 in doubles pairings. The doubles duo of Hoehn and Portsdize also wound up unbeaten in league play (8-0).

Jala Hassan, Rhiana Bruce-Lyle and Erika Ridgway all garnered second team all-league honors. Hassan registered an 18-4 mark in singles and went 15-7 in doubles. Bruce-Lyle finished 12-9 in singles play and 10-4 in doubles. Ridgway tallied a 10-4 record in singles and went 13-6 in doubles competition.

Hassan and Portsdize each finished undefeated in singles against conference competition (8-0).

Davis & Elkins awaits the winner between Ursuline and Kentucky Wesleyan in the G-MAC semi-finals on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.
