Box Score 2 ELKINS, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins picked up one win over NAIA foe West Virginia Tech on Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Bears took game one 7-2, but D&E bounced back with a 13-1 win in game two.
WVU-T scored a run in the top of the first, taking a 1-0 lead. Danielle Norton tied the game at 1-1 with a RBI single in the bottom of the inning. The Golden Bears plated single runs in the second and fourth, before breaking the game open with a three-run double in the fifth. An error allowed the Senators' second run to score in the sixth inning. West Virginia Tech added one in the seventh, setting the 7-2 margin.
Alanna Jones (7-12) worked 3.2 innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on five hits with a pair of strikeouts and two walks. Autumn Appleby hurled 3.1 innings, giving up four runs on three hits, striking out one and walking four.
In game two, Corrine Carrington and Chelsie Stover each registered RBI singles, and Ashley Dove notched a bases clearing triple, as D&E scored five runs in the opening frame. The Golden Bears scored their lone run in the top of the second inning on an error. Carrington and Amber LaBille each posted a pair of RBI in the second as part of a seven run inning. D&E's final tally came on a Whoolery single in the third inning.
Amber LaBille (7-13) tossed the complete game, allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out four and walking one.
Davis & Elkins travels to Ohio Valley on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.
