Box Score 2 ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins softball team split with rival Alderson Broaddus on Saturday afternoon. The Battlers ran away with a 10-0 victory in game one, while the Senators earned a dramatic walk off winner in game two, 3-2.
AB scored four runs in the fourth and six in the sixth, setting the 10-0 margin.
Alanna Jones (7-10) surrendered eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits in 5.2 innings pitched, with five strikeouts and six walks. Autumn Appleby gave up two unearned runs on two hits while walking a pair in one-third of an inning.
The Senators manufactured a run in the second on a groundout by Amber LaBille. Corrine Carrington added a sacrifice fly in the third, extending the lead to 2-0. The Battlers launched solo home runs in the fifth and seventh, sending the game into extra innings. Katelyn Norton doubled to start the eighth and was pinch run for by Kaylee Kreitz. Danielle Norton followed with a single and Krietz reached the plate just ahead of the tag by the Battler catcher.
LaBille (5-12) tossed the complete game, yielding two runs on six hits, striking out six and walking one.
Davis & Elkins hosts Cedarville on Monday at 3 p.m.
