Box Score 2 ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins took advantage of dominant pitching efforts, sweeping Bluefield State on Wednesday. The Senators took a 3-2 decision in game one and held on for a 4-2 victory in game two.
Treavor Dubiel singled home Brad Banzhoff in the first inning, giving D&E a 1-0 lead. Houston Darling drove home D&E's second run and scored on a bases-loaded walk to Banzhoff, extending the lead to 3-0 after two innings. BSC scored a pair in the fifth on a single, but the Senators held on for the 3-2 win.
Noah Jarboe (4-1) tossed the complete game, allowing two unearned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and a pair of free passes.
In game two, Darling delivered a two-run single in the second inning, putting the Senators in front 2-0. The Blues scored a run in the sixth, cutting the deficit in half at 2-1. D&E responded with sacrifice flies from Travis Phelps and Darling, making the score 4-1. BSC plated one run in the seventh, but Davis & Elkins came away with the 4-2 win.
Forest Williamson (2-1) went the distance, yielding two runs on four hits with nine strikeouts and two walks.
The Senators welcome Salem International for a weekend set beginning at 12 p.m. on Friday.
