Box Score 2 CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Davis & Elkins and Cedarville each picked up one league victory on Saturday. The Senators won game one, 6-3 while the Yellow Jackets wound up a 12-6 winner.
Ryan Dodson singled home Brad Banzhoff in the first inning, giving D&E a 1-0 lead. Cedarville responded with a two-run single in the bottom of the inning. Dodson tied the game at 2-2 with a sacrifice fly in the third inning. CU retook the lead in the fourth on a RBI single. Dodson drove home his third run of the afternoon with a single in the fifth. Treavor Dubiel and Travis Phelps each registered RBI in the sixth, as three runs crossed the plate to set the 6-3 margin.
Michael Paratore (1-4) earned the complete game victory, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits with five strikeouts and a pair of walks.
In game two, Dubiel drove home Matt Moceri in the first inning, putting D&E on top, 1-0. CU scored one in the second, three in the fourth and three in the fifth to take a 7-1 lead. Dubiel singled home a run in the seventh, Phelps added a bases-loaded walk and Dodson drove home three with a triple, as Davis & Elkins cut the deficit to 7-6. The Yellow Jackets scored two in the bottom of the inning, and notched a bases-clearing double in the eighth, putting the game out of reach at 12-6.
Marcus Warner (0-6) hurled six innings, surrendering seven runs (six earned) on eight hits while striking out six and walking a pair. Brennan Dettinger worked 1.2 innings, yielding five runs on four hits and walking two. Christian Scott gave up two hits in one-third of an inning.
The Senators welcome Bluefield State on Tuesday at 12 p.m.
