Box Score 2 CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Cedarville downed Davis & Elkins in a doubleheader on Friday. The Yellow Jackets took game one, 5-2 and followed it up with a 6-3 win in game two.
Brad Banzhoff chased home a pair of runs with a RBI single in the second, giving D&E a 2-0 lead. CU turned a lead-off walk into a three-run fifth inning, going in front, 3-2. Cedarville added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth, setting the 5-2 margin. D&E got the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but a fly out ended the rally attempt.
Zach Bradfield (0-3) hurled 7.2 innings, yielding five runs on six hits with six strikeouts and walked three. Jake Smith gave up one hit in one-third of an inning.
In game two, Matt Moceri put D&E in front, 1-0 with a solo home run. A bases-loaded triple led to five runs in the bottom of the inning, making the score 5-1 in favor of CU. A D&E error made the score 6-1 in the fourth. Ryan Butts notched a RBI single in the fifth, trimming the deficit to 6-2. Houston Darling added a RBI groundout in the sixth to conclude the scoring.
Tyler Honeycutt (4-2) tossed the complete game, surrendering six runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out four and walking a pair.
The Senators and Yellow Jackets wrap-up their weekend set with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
