Box Score 2 PHILIPPI, W.Va. – Alderson Broaddus snapped D&E's four-game win streak with a sweep on Tuesday afternoon. AB belted a pair of homers for an 8-0 win in game one and took game two by a score of 6-4.
The Battlers launched back-to-back home runs in the third inning of game one to take a 4-0 lead. AB added two in the fourth and two in the sixth to set the mercy rule in effect with the 8-0 final.
Alanna Jones (5-6) surrendered six runs (five earned) on eight hits with nine strikeouts and one walk in five innings. Autumn Appleby yielded two runs (one earned) on three hits in one-third of an inning.
Danielle Norton, Corrine Carrington and Chelsie Stover each notched RBI base hits in the third inning of game two, putting D&E in front 3-0. Alderson Broaddus responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning, before adding a run in both the fourth and fifth to take a 6-3 lead. Stover tallied the game's final run with a solo home run in the sixth.
Amber LaBille (2-9) tossed the complete game, giving up six runs (five earned) on 10 hits with four strikeouts and a pair of walks.
The Senators travel to Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday.
