Box Score 2 THOMASVILLE, N.C. – Lock Haven capitalized on six D&E errors to sweep the Senators on Sunday. LHU took game one, 10-7, and held on for a 3-2 victory in game two.
Walks and errors combined to allow Lock Haven to score seven runs in the first two innings to seize a 7-0 lead. A squeeze bunt by Tyler Gibbons got D&E on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second. Back-to-back wild pitches in the third made the score, 9-1. Matt Moceri notched a RBI double in the bottom half. Treavor Dubiel added a RBI single and Ryan Dodson tacked on a sacrifice fly, cutting the deficit to 9-4. Gibbons notched a RBI infield single in the fifth, making the score 9-5. A solo shot in the top of the sixth extended the LHU advantage to 10-5. Lance Vannoy recorded a RBI single and Dubiel posted a RBI double in the sixth, but it was too little, too late for D&E.
Tyler Honeycutt surrendered seven unearned runs in two innings on two hits with one strikeout and six walks. Noah Jarboe went five innings, yielding three runs on a pair of hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
In game two, Vannoy put the Senators in front with a sacrifice fly in the third inning. A D&E miscue led to the tying run crossing the plate in the top of the fourth. A sacrifice fly and an error in the fifth each plated a run as the Bald Eagles took a 3-1 lead. Brad Banzhoff roped a RBI double in the seventh, but was unable to score as D&E fell, 3-2.
Marcus Warner (0-2) was saddled with the loss, giving up three runs (one earned) on four hits with a pair of strikeouts and one walk. Brennan Dettinger tossed a scoreless inning and two-thirds with a strikeout.
The Senators are slated to host Millersville in a weekend series beginning on Saturday.
