Box Score PHILIPPI, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins advanced to the G-MAC semi-finals with a 72-65 win over Cedarville on Thursday evening.
Devin Miller led the Senators with 18 points. Kevin Bracy-Davis added 14 points, Brian Dixon finished with 13 and T.J. Guthrie chipped in with 11.
Brian Grant led Cedarville with 18 points. Lane Vander Hulst registered 17 points.
D&E held a 39-33 advantage on the glass.
CU snatched a quick 10-4 lead in the opening half following a Jason Cuffie three. Brian Dixon and Guthrie buried back-to-back threes to draw the Senators within two at 14-12. Davis & Elkins pulled ahead, 27-21, on Guthrie's second three of the half and held a 39-34 advantage at the half.
Davis & Elkins held a slim 18-15 advantage on the glass in the opening 20 minutes. Guthrie and Miller each netted eight points in the half.
The Senators maintained a single digit advantage until a 12-3 blitz opened up a 63-49 lead. The run was ignited by a Bracy-Davis dunk. CU responded with a 9-0 sprint to pull within five at 63-58. Guthrie and Dixon combined to make 5-of-6 free throws in the final minute, securing the 72-65 victory.
D&E will face AB in the G-MAC semi-finals on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.
