Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, W.Va. –The Davis & Elkins softball team pushed its win streak to a season-best four games with a sweep of NAIA foe West Virginia Tech. The Senators took game one 9-1, and claimed a 7-1 decision in game two.
Danielle Norton put D&E on top in the first inning with a RBI single. Katelyn Norton added a two-run single later in the inning, extending the lead to 3-0. Chelsie Stover belted a three-run homer in the third and Katelyn Norton added a solo shot, making the score 7-0. Katelyn Norton and Kaitlyn Daugherty each registered RBI in the fourth inning. The Golden Bears scored one in the bottom half, but got no closer, falling 9-1.
Alana Jones (5-5) surrendered one run on two hits with five strikeouts during five innings in the circle.
Ashley Dove laced a RBI triple in the third inning and scored on an error to put Davis & Elkins in front 2-0. Katelyn Norton launched a grand slam in the sixth, pushing the lead to 6-0. Chelsea Graham roped a RBI double in the seventh. WVU-Tech managed one run in the bottom half.
Amber LaBille (3-8) worked the complete game, allowing one run on six hits with four strikeouts.
Davis & Elkins returns to the field on Monday at Alderson Broaddus. First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m.
