Box Score 2 ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins softball team opened G-MAC by splitting a doubleheader with Ohio Valley on Friday. The Senators scored eight runs in the third on their way to a 10-3 win in game one, but the Scots bounced back for a 1-0 victory.
A wild pitch put Davis & Elkins in front 1-0 after one inning of play. OVU knotted the game at 1-1 with a RBI single in the second. The Senators promptly untied the game on a RBI single by Kaitlyn Daugherty. The Senator offense exploded for eight runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Amanda Serafini. A D&E error led to a pair of runs for the Scots in the fifth to conclude the scoring.
Alana Jones (3-4) tossed the complete game, giving up three runs (one earned) on five hits with six strikeouts and three walks.
In the nightcap, Leigh Murphy drove the first pitch of the seventh inning over the wall in right center, propelling Ohio Valley to the 1-0 win. The Scots didn't allow a Senator runner past second base in the game.
Amber LaBille (0-8) suffered the loss, yielding one run on three hits with eight strikeouts.
The Senators will look to get back in the win column on Saturday as they host Salem International in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
