Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins scored a season-best 64 points in the second half to pull away from Central State, 103-92 on Saturday.
Jorden Lykes posted a double-double (21 points, 10 rebounds). Stephanie Wooten added 20 points and Ashley Bowles chipped in with 18 points.
The Marauders were piloted by Veronne Clark's game-high 24 points. Demetria Lash chipped in with 17 points, while Shakeira Lang notched 12 points.
The Senators held a 48-43 advantage on the glass, translating 15 offensive boards into 27 points. The D&E bench outscored CSU's bench 48-22. D&E made 28-of-35 attempts at the charity stripe, while the Marauders sank 15-of-17 attempts.
A Tajee Pledger three sparked Davis & Elkins to an early 13-6 lead. Central State went on a 12-4 sprint, going in front 18-17. The Marauders broke a 20-20 tie with a 17-8 jolt, taking their largest lead of the game at 37-28. The Senators closed the half on an 11-4 surge capped by a Pledger three at the buzzer, cutting the deficit to 41-39.
Central State scored 21 points off of 17 D&E turnovers in the opening 20 minutes. D&E shot 54 percent from the field (15-of-28).
Davis & Elkins broke open a 52-51 game with an 11-0 blitz, extending their lead to 63-51. The Senators maintained a sizable advantage, but CSU chipped away, pulling within five at 88-83. A traditional three-point play by Bowles on the next possession propelled the Senators to the 103-92 victory.
D&E begins its final road trip of the regular season on Thursday at Ohio Valley. Tip time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
