ELKINS W.Va. – Davis & Elkins raced to an early double digit lead and held on late for an 80-75 victory over Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday.

D&E was led by Wesley Sprinkle (17points). Devin Miller added a double-double for the Senators with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Juwan Strothers added 16 points and Brian Dixon tacked on 11.

The Trojans were piloted by Nick Drake (16), Taylor Clay (14), Mac Walden (13), and Byron Sanford (10).

TNU scored the game's first basket; Wesley Sprinkle responded with back-to-back threes, sending the Senators on a 19-1 run to make the score 19-3.The Senators maintained a double digit advantage for the remainder of the half, taking a 42-28 lead to the locker room.

D&E out-rebounded the Trojans 25-12 in the opening 20 minutes. Davis & Elkins went 7-11 from the three-point line—Sprinkle and Dixon each buried a trio of threes.

The Trojans cut the lead to single digits with an 8-0 run sparked by a Matt Pond three. D&E rebuilt a 16 point lead, only to see TNU go on a 19-6 blitz, making the score 74-73.Trevecca forced six Senator turnovers during the run. Strothers answered with a lay-up and a pair of free throws to keep D&E in front.  The Trojans' attempt to tie at the end was thwarted when they called time-out that they didn't have, setting Miller up for two free throws to seal the 80-75 victory.

The Senators out-rebounded TNU 41-28 for the game and translated 12 offensive rebounds into 12 second-chance points.

The men travel to Ohio Valley on Monday evening at 7:30.
