INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Devin Miller poured in a career-high 41 points, but it wasn't enough, as Davis & Elkins dropped an 83-78 decision at West Virginia State on Monday.

Miller completed a double-double effort with 11 rebounds. Brian Dixon added 11 points and Juwan Strothers chipped in with 10.

Terry Wood (14), Bo King (13), Angelo Sirianni (12) and Anton Hutchins (12) all reached double figures for WVSU. Steve Wing ripped down a game-high 14 rebounds.

D&E shot 47 percent (31-of-66) from the field. The Jackets held a 40-38 advantage on the glass.

The Senators took an early 12-6 lead. Miller registered six of the 12 points. West Virginia State responded with a 9-2 sprint, grabbing a 15-14 lead. Neither team led by more than five for the rest of the half; WVSU held a slim 49-47 lead at the break.

The Jackets scored seven of the first nine points in the second half, taking their largest lead of the evening at 56-49. D&E rallied to knot the game at 62-62, but a pair of Hutchins free throws on the ensuing possession put WVSU in front for good at 64-62. West Virginia State made eight-of-10 attempts at the charity stripe in the final two minutes to seal the 83-78 victory.

Davis & Elkins looks to get back on track Thursday evening when they host Kentucky Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m.
