SALEM, W.Va. – Salem International erased a seven-point halftime deficit to down Davis & Elkins, 89-80 on Saturday.

Devin Miller scored 18 points and Juwan Strothers added 15 points for the Senators.

Courtney Pitts scored 21 points off the bench for SIU. Walter Brock (17), Jamal Robinson (16) and Alex Webb (10) also reached double figures for Salem.

The Tigers' bench outscored the D&E bench, 50-30.

Wesley Sprinkle drained a three, sparking a 16-2 blitz by D&E to take a 27-14 lead. Back-to-back threes by Pitts sent the Tigers on an 18-8 surge, making the score 35-32. D&E scored the final four points of the half to take a 39-32 lead to the break.

The Senators pushed the lead back to 11 at 43-32. SIU responded with a 15-6 run to cut the deficit to 49-47. The Tigers went on a 16-4 surge later in the half to go on top, 67-59. D&E trimmed the deficit to four points late, but could get no closer falling, 89-80.

D&E travels to West Virginia State on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m.
