Box Score SALEM, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins built a 26-point halftime lead and came away with a 74-62 victory over Salem International on Saturday.
Stephanie Wooten netted a game-high 19 points to lead D&E. Sharmaine Baker added 16 points.
Marissa Carey led SIU with 18 points. Inerka Patterson chipped in with 13 points, while Tashay Smith registered 10 points.
Mo Ferebee buried a three, igniting a 12-4 run to open the contest for D&E. The Senators used a 10-0 sprint later in the half to increase the lead to 22-9. Davis & Elkins outscored Salem, 26-13 for the remainder of the half to take a 48-22 lead to the locker room.
SIU scored the first nine points of the second half, cutting the deficit to 48-31. The Tigers continued to chisel away, pulling with 11 at 66-55, but D&E was able to maintain the lead from there to secure the 74-62 win.
The Senators host Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
