Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins women's basketball team limited Ursuline to 26 percent shooting from the field in the second half, en route to a 78-71 win on Saturday.
Jorden Lykes posted her second consecutive double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Stephanie Wooten and Sharmaine Baker each added 14 points, while Ashley Bowles chipped in with 13 points.
Ursuline was led by Emma Ricketts' 15 point, 19 rebound effort. Erica Huber (13), Brianna Woods (12), Katie Capello (11) and Jenny Grigsby (11) also reached double figures for UC.
D&E held a 53-50 advantage on the glass, and the Senator bench outscored Ursuline's bench 32-11.
Lykes buried a three, igniting a 15-6 blitz by D&E to open the game. UC responded with a 13-6 run, cutting the deficit to 21-19. The Arrows held a 38-37 lead at the half.
Ursuline extended its lead to 43-37 before a 12-2 surge by the Senators made the score 49-45. The run was ignited by a Bowles three. UC scored the game's next six points, but a Baker three put the Senators in front for good at 52-51. UC managed to get within one late, but Lykes scored the next four points to secure the 78-71 win.
Davis & Elkins returns to action on Thursday as they host Cedarville at 5:30 p.m.
