D&E Survives AB, 70-67

PHILLIPI, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins built a 15-point halftime lead, and held on for a 70-67 victory over Alderson Broaddus.

Stephanie Wooten scored 20 points and dished out seven assists. Sharmaine Baker notched 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

Rachel Ashley led the Battlers with 22 points.

The Senators struggled at the charity stripe, making only 9-of-24 attempts. D&E connected on 9-of-17 shots from three-point range. The Battler bench outscored Davis & Elkins' bench 29-17. D&E held a 46-35 advantage on the glass.

Wooten and Ashley Bowles each buried threes as part of 10-0 run, putting the Senators in front 24-11. Sydney Turner buried back-to-back threes, igniting an 8-0 jolt to push the D&E advantage to 45-30 at the break.

Davis & Elkins scored 16 of the first 22 points in the second half to take their largest lead of the contest at 61-36. Alderson Broaddus scored 31 of the final 40 points, but Jordan Parker's three attempt was off the mark as Davis & Elkins escaped 70-67.

D&E returns to the court on December 19 at Ashland.
