Box Score MONTGOMERY, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins women's basketball team closed out November with a 74-63 victory over West Virginia Tech on Tuesday afternoon.
Sharmaine Baker and Stephanie Wooten paced the Senators with 17 points each. Wooten handed out a game-high eight assists as well. Ashley Bowles (11) and Maquasia Ferebee (10) also scored in double figures for D&E.
Nia Nolan netted 24 points for the Golden Bears. Rocio Ruiz-Berdejo added 12 points for WVU-Tech.
Davis & Elkins scored the afternoon's first seven points, but the Golden Bears scored 19 of the next 30 to take their only lead of the day at 19-18. Wooten ignited a 10-3 run by the Senators, making the score 28-22. D&E took a 41-32 advantage to the locker room.
The Senators put the game away with a 16-6 blitz, sparked by a Shanda Howell three, that made the score 68-51. Davis & Elkins rolled from there to the 74-63 win.
D&E returns from Thanksgiving on December 3 when they will look to avenge their only loss at Bluefield State.
