PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – Five Shawnee State players reached double figures, leading SSU to a 71-64 win over Davis & Elkins on Tuesday.

Wesley Sprinkle led D&E with 18 points. Aleksandar Vasiljevic added 13 points and nine rebounds. T.J. Guthrie finished with 14 points.

Sean Elliott (18), Devon Carter (12), Jacob Daniels (11), Ethan Moffatt (11) and Andrew Bendolph (10) all notched double-digits for the Bears.

Shawnee State's bench outscored D&E's bench 32-10. The Bears shot 47 percent (24-of-51) from the field, including 5-of-11 attempts from beyond the arc while holding Davis & Elkins to 38 percent (22-of-58).

The Senators opened the game by scoring six of the first seven points. Moffatt buried a three, triggering a 16-0 surge by the Bears to make the score 17-6. D&E scored the final seven points of the half, cutting the deficit to 27-23 at the break.

A 10-3 sprint by SSU stretched the gap back to 10 at 44-34. A 9-2 jolt pulled D&E back within two possessions at 53-48. Shawnee State countered with a 9-2 blitz of their own, sealing the 71-64 win.

D&E returns home to face Bluefield College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
