EVANSVILL, Ind. – Davis & Elkins dropped an 82-54 decision to Southern Indiana in their season-opener on Saturday.

Kevin Bracy-Davis (16) and Aleks Vasiljevic (10) reached double figures for the Senators. Rashad Parker pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.

Gavin Schumann (22), Tenale Roland (17) and George Edwards (14) reached double digits for USI.

Southern Indiana made 29-of-60 (48.3 percent) attempts from the field, while holding D&E to 39 percent (21-of-54). The Screaming Eagles sank 17-of-21 free throws, compared to D&E successfully converting on only 9-of-16 chances.

The Screaming Eagles capitalized on seven D&E turnovers early to create a 17-3 cushion. USI maintained their double digit advantage the remainder of the half, taking a 43-27 lead to the locker room.

The deficit swelled to as many as 28 in the second half, as USI rolled to the 82-54 win.

D&E opens its home slate on Wednesday against Shepherd at 7:30 p.m.
