ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins College topped West Virginia Tech 86-62 on Monday evening.
A combined team effort by the Senators put them on top early in the first half, going on a 25-9 run; WV Tech was unable to respond.
Maquasia Ferebee stole a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 rebounds to help D&E to victory. The Senators had four other players scoring double figures –Ashley Bowles (11), Stephanie Wooten (11), Ashley Magallanez (10) and Jorden Lykes (10).
Nia Nolan (18) and Cierra Mobley (11) reached double digits for the Golden Bears.
D&E reached a season-high 44 points in the paint. The Senators held the Golden Bears to 31 percent from the field, while D&E shooting 47 percent from the field. Davis & Elkins had an outstanding effort, sinking 20-of-22 from the charity stripe.
The Senators return to action Saturday at 5:15 p.m. at Alderson-Broaddus University.
