CEDARVILLE, Ohio—The Davis & Elkins women's basketball team earned a 76-75 victory over Cedarville on Thursday.
Stephanie Wooten (21), Ashley Bowles (16), Jorden Lykes (14) and Sharmaine Baker (13) each posted double figures for D&E. Wooten also sank 4-of-7 (57 percent) from the three-point line.
Kaysie Brittenham (16), Kayla Jenerette (13), Deborah Gordon (11) and Kayla Linkous (10) all hit double digits for the Yellow Jackets.
The Senators held a slight 40-36 advantage on the glass, led by 10 boards from Lykes. Davis & Elkins shot a season-best 49 percent from the field.
CU went on 9-3 surge to take the lead in the first six minutes. Wooten scored five points in the final two minutes, allowing the Senators to go to the locker room with a 31-31 tie.
Cedarville opened the second half with a 10-3 run and led Davis & Elkins 47-40. Baker tied the game at 53-53 with a layup. The ensuing battle ended with a Wooten layup during the final eight seconds to give D&E the final 76-75 advantage, allowing them to clinch a huge road victory.
Davis & Elkins faces Central State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
