NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Four Trojans reached double digits as TNU defeated D&E, 74-66 on Saturday.
The Senators were led by Jorden Lykes, who scored 22 points and ripped down a career-high 21 rebounds. Sharmaine Baker added 14 points.
The Trojans were led by Christina Curtner (18), Anna Mitchell (16), Sarah Raby (16) and Kaci Britt Bell who tailed with a double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds),
D&E (4-12, 3-3) shot 30 percent from the field and 11.5 percent from three going just 3-of-26. Davis & Elkins out-rebounded the Trojans by 16 (58-42), but turned the ball over 22 times.
The first half was a battle as the teams exchanged buckets, but the Senators took a 31-29 lead into the locker room.
Trevecca Nazarene (8-7, 5-1) opened the second half on a 16-5 blitz, taking a 45-36 lead. Davis & Elkins was unable to get closer than six--Curtner responded with a three, pushing the lead back to nine. TNU outscored the Senators by 10 in the second half to take the 74-66 win.
Davis and Elkins is back in action Thursday at 5:30 where they look to bounce back at Cedarville.
