ELKINS, W.Va. – The Senator volleyball team opened the Davis & Elkins Classic with a decisive 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-8) win over Bluefield State.

Freshman Alexis Mourier led D&E with 11 kills on the evening. Haylee Murray posted 19 assists, while Alicia Stokes added 10 assists and a team-best five service aces.

D&E held an 11-8 lead in the first set, before reeling off 14 of the final 18 points in the set to take a 1-0 lead. BSC raced to a 6-2 lead in set two, only to see the Senators go on a 9-0 run to go on top 11-6. Brittany Behensky notched a trio of aces during the run. D&E put the set out of reach with a 9-2 spurt to take the 25-14 triumph. The Senators sealed the sweep, scoring 10 of the final 11 markers to take set three 25-8.

Seton Hill topped Glenville State, 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-20) in the day's opening match, while Seton Hill outlasted Alderson Broaddus in the nightcap.

The final day of the D&E Classic starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
