BECKLEY, WV - Four memebers of the Davis & Elkins baseball team received All-WVIAC honors as voted on by league coaches. Treavor Dubiel was named to the first- team, Josh Kehr and Matt Barr received second-team honors while Matt Moceri received honorable mention.
Seton Hill's Nick Sell has been named the WVIAC Player of the Year while his teammate Alex Haines has been voted the WVIAC Pitcher of the Year. The Griffins' Marc Marizzaldi garnered WVIAC Coach of the Year.
Sell, a first-team all-conference selection a year ago, leads Division II with a .466 average. He has 76 hits, 26 of which have gone for extra bases. Sell has driven in 46 runs and has crossed home 57 times. He boasts a .761 slugging percentage and a .551 on-base percentage. Sell tops the team in batting average, on-base percentage, hits and walks and is second in slugging percentage and runs scored.
Haines, the reigning WVIAC Player of the Year, picked up the honor for the second consecutive season. He notched a 6-2 mark while throwing four complete games. Haines was in on two shutouts while tossing 57.2 innings on the season. Opponents batted just .245 off Haines on the season. He struck out 68 batters while holding a 2.81 ERA.
Marizzaldi guided SHU to a 26-8 WVIAC mark in league action with a power rating of 191.47 while claiming the North Division title. The Griffins currently have a 37-13 overall mark, are ranked at the top of the region and are nationally ranked.
The first-team all-conference selections include pitchers Jordan Butcher, Jeff Conley, Alex Haines, Paul Hvozdovic and Ryan Pyansch. Kyle Morrow was voted as the top catcher. The infielders include Treavor Dubiel (1B), Jake Warner (2B), Nick Sell (3B) and Brendan Costantino (SS). The outfielders include Bret Blevins, Michael Lott, Ryan Messina, Andrew Seigel and Zach Vignero. Jack Hudson was voted as the first-team designated hitter.
