UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins women's basketball team earned a 76-72 victory over Ursuline on Saturday.

Jorden Lykes scored 15 points, pulled down eight rebounds and had four steals. Stephanie Wooten registered 14 points and Sharmaine Baker chipped in with 11 points off the bench.

Emma Ricketts led the Arrows with game-highs in both points (20) and rebounds (13). Jenny Grigsby (16) and Erica Huber (11) also added double figures for UC.

The Senators translated 18 offensive rebounds into 16 second chance points. D&E scored 26 points off of 30 Ursuline turnovers. UC stayed in the game by making 22 of its 33 trips to the charity stripe, but managed only 57 shots in the game to 79 for Davis & Elkins.

Shanda Howell ignited a 7-2 jolt to open the contest with a three. The Arrows scored 21 of the game's next 32 points to take their largest lead of the game at 23-18. Hannah Carl buried back-to-back threes as part of a 10-1 sprint by the Senators, making the score 28-24. D&E held a 34-32 advantage at the half.

The Davis & Elkins lead grew to 39-32 early in the second half. Ursuline stormed back with an 18-6 surge going back on top, 50-45. UC maintained the lead from there until Wooten drilled a three, sparking a furious 10-1 rally to close the game. Ashley Bowles put D&E in front for good at 73-72 with under 90 seconds to play, as D&E pulled out the 76-72 victory.

The Senators travel to Owensboro, Ky. on Friday to participate in the Fairfield Inn Classic. D&E faces McKendree at 5 p.m. central time on Friday.
