Second Half Blitz Pushes Concord Past Davis & Elkins, 70-66

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. –Concord scored 19 of the final 21 points on Saturday afternoon, snapping Davis & Elkins' five-game win streak with a 70-66 victory on Saturday.

Bruce Komakech registered a game-high 18 points. Juwan Strothers added 14 points and Devin Miller chipped in with 12. Strothers also pulled down a game-best nine rebounds.

B.J. Hamlet (15), Cam Shannon (13), Mike Boyd (11) and Ali Barnes (10) all reached double digits for the Mountain Lions.

Concord sank 15-of-20 attempts at the charity stripe, while D&E made only nine trips to the free throw line, converting on five of the attempts. CU turned 17 Senator turnovers into 25 points and translated 14 offensive rebounds into 16 second chance points.

Concord built an early 15-8 lead behind a trio of threes from Hamlet. Komakech netted 12 points to spur a 28-6 blitz that put the Senators in front, 36-21. The Mountain Lions scored 13 of the final 16 points of the half, trimming the deficit to 39-34 at the break.

D&E extended its lead to 64-51 with eight minutes to play, only to see CU storm back with a 19-2 surge to claim the 70-66 victory.

The Senators host the Virginia University at Lynchburg on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.
