Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – James Pucci posted a hat trick to lead Davis & Elkins to a 7-1 win over Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday evening.
Lukas Grosse-Puppendahl opened the scoring with a goal off of a Pucci corner kick in the 13th minute to put D&E in front 1-0. Pucci's first marker came 18 seconds later to extend the lead to 2-0. The Panthers' Blake Cobb got KWC on the board with a tally in the 22nd minute. The momentum for KWC would be short lived however, as Pucci pushed the lead back to a pair with a goal 39 seconds later. Oliver Bienas scored the final goal of the first 45 minutes, as the Senators took a 4-1 lead to the break.
Branko Dugalic, James Pucci and Grosse-Puppendahl all scored goals in the second half for D&E.
Davis & Elkins outshot Kentucky Wesleyan 23-3, including placing 14 shots on goal.
The Senators return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. as they welcome Trevecca Nazarene.
