ASHLAND, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins women's soccer team closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 2-1 win over Ashland on Wednesday afternoon.

Laia Margenat Dordas scored a pair of goals in the opening 15 minutes to give the Senators to a 2-0 lead. The Eagles' Kelly Kripinsky scored just before the intermission to cut the deficit to a single goal at 2-1, but the Senator defense held off Ashland to secure the 2-1 win.

The Eagles finished with 19 shots to just seven for D&E, including nine on goal to just four.

Ashley Winkelspecht registered eight saves in the contest.

The Senators return home on Saturday to battle G-MAC rival Alderson-Broaddus.
