ELKINS, WV - Fairmont State outlasted Davis & Elkins to claim a 3-1 win in conference volleyball action Wednesday night in The McDonnell Center.
Battling back and fourth throughout the first three sets, the Lady Flacons overcame a valiant Lady Senator effort to win 29-27, 19-25, 26-25, and 25-15.
Fairmont State (6-2, 1-0 in the WVIAC) was led by 16 digs from Tiff Smathers and 10 kills from Amber Wilson.
D&E, who dropped to 0-8 and 0-1 in the WVIAC, was led by senior Meaghan Emery who had 23 digs. Senior Heather Zapf led the Senators with 15 kills, while sophomore Nicole Miller tallied 10 kills.
The Lady Senators return to action next Tuesday when they travel to Shippensburg for a non-conference tilt.
