INSTITUTE, WV- The Senators weren't going to go quietly after being swept in doubleheader action on Friday afternoon.

Davis & Elkins (13-18, 9-10) came out swinging Saturday in the third and final game of WVIAC action against the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State.  When the last out was recorded, the Senators had scored an impressive 16-5 victory.

Junior Kyle Crist, hitting in the #2 spot for the first time this season, would open the scoring in the 1st inning after singling and moving around to 3rd on Matt Barr's single.  Josh Robinette would plate Crist with a single to right center before being tagged out at 2nd trying to stretch his hit into a double.

Tripp Staley (4-3) worked 8 1/3 solid innings spreading out five runs on nine hits.  Staley struck out six and walked three in his 116 pitch effort.  Crist would throw the final 2/3 innings to nail down the win.

After the initial run in the first, the Senators scored three runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings, one run in the 6th, two in the 7th, and would break out for six runs in the 9th inning. 

Offensively, the Senators had six hitters with multiple hits including Crist (3-for-6), Barr (5-for-6), Lance Vannoy (5-for-6), and Josh Robinette (3-for-5).  Treavor Dubiel and Brad Banzhoff both had two hits on the day.  As a team, D&E was 23-for-49 at the plate for a .469 average.  The team connected on seven extra base hits including five doubles, a triple, and a homerun.

Junior shortstop Matt Barr was a double away from hitting for the cycle as he had a single, triple, homerun, and finally two singles as well as driving in five runs.  Crist and Robinette both scored four runs on the day.

The Senators will continue WVIAC play this Tuesday when they travel to Alderson-Broaddus College in Phillipi, WV for a 1:00pm doubleheader start.
