ELKINS, WV - The Davis & Elkins women's basketball team battled second place West Virginia Wesleyan the entire game, but could not get over the hump Saturday and dropped a 73-66 decision at The McDonnell Center.
Sophomore forward Jorden Lykes led the Senators with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while junior point guard Page Turner added 19 points and eight assists.
The Bobcats were led by the senior tandem of Lydia Bridenbaugh (28 points) and Jamie Kaufman (22 points) as they improve to 18-6 overall and 15-4 in the WVIAC.
Sophomore guard Rachel Gostomski added 12 points for D&E (12-12, 11-9).
The Senators shot 50 percent (25-50) from the floor but the Bobcats made 13 more free throws and also finished with a 33-26 rebounding edge.
The Senators return to action on Wednesday when they host Shepherd at 5:30 p.m. in a key WVIAC contest.
