VIENNA, WV- The Davis & Elkins Senators volleyball team traveled to Vienna, WV to take on Ohio Valley University Tuesday night.
The Senators (8-13, 2-3) fell in three sets to the Fighting Scots (4-13, 1-4). Playing a tight match, the visitors from Davis & Elkins couldn't find a way to take down their host, losing 21-25, 20-25, 21-25 before a crowd of 300 fans.
Junior Heather Zapf had nine kills on the night while Senior Alex Barnard added eight of her own. Senior Bre Tognoli pitched in with 15 assists as freshman Nicole Miller contributed 10 digs.
Davis & Elkins will now travel to sunny southern Florida for the Pepsi Bash at the Beach Tournament hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL. Their first match will be Friday Oct. 7 at 3:00 pm against Carson-Newman University and followed by a 5:00 pm match with conference foe Seton Hill in a non-conference match up. On Saturday, the Senators will take on host Palm Beach Atlantic at 10:00 am before finishing up with Barry University at 2:00 pm.
The next home match will be Oct. 18 in a tri match against Virginia State University at 5:00 pm followed by West Liberty University at 7:00 pm.
