ELKINS, WV - The Davis & Elkins College women's tennis team was named a 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II All-Academic Team as announced by the organization.
The ITA all-academic award recognizes any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or above when factoring in all student-athletes that have competed in one or more varsity matches for the current academic year.
Additionally, several Senators earned ITA scholar-athlete distinction which spotlights varsity letter winners that maintained a GPA of at lest 3.50 throughout the academic year. Markita Prieto was recognized for the second year in a row while Rhiana Bruce-Lyle, Julia Hoehn, and Becky Price received scholar-athlete recognition for the first time.
The Senators, under the direction of Head Coach Otis Cutshaw, will kick off the 2012 campaign on September 5 at West Virginia Wesleyan.
