ELKINS, WV -Coach Raul Ovalle proudly announces that the Senator women's soccer team will bring in 10 dynamic and technical players for the fall 2012 season. Ovalle states, "We believe this recruiting class has impact players, and will give us the depth necessary to make it to the conference tournament. We're excited for what next season will bring."
Two of the ten hail from Huntingtown High School in Huntingtown, MD. Taylor Morton, a midfielder/defender, is a four-year honor roll student and was named Top Defender two years running in the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference (SMAC). Midfielder Marisa Morris also received high honors throughout high school and was named All-County first team.
Chelsea Myers, midfielder, is from Williamsport, Maryland. She will graduate from Williamsport High School having lettered in soccer, basketball, Unified Track & Field, as well as Unified Bocce Ball. She was also captain for Unified Sport Teams.
Goalkeeper Jasmine Biggs is from Fort Washington, Maryland and will graduate from Trostel High School. She plans to study Criminology.
Four Canadians will also join the Senator soccer program this fall. Defender Kori Jeffrey played for club soccer for the St. Catherines Jets, and plans to study psychology. Ashley Muscat, midfielder, will graduate from Paris District High School. Muscat has also been awarded a medal for "Best Moves" as well as the Silver and Gold Award for Skills. Kelsey Rodgers, defender, hails from Thorold, Ontario and was a three-time captain for Denis Morris Catholic High School. She is also a nationally ranked wrestler, having wrestled for Team Ontario Wrestling, and played club soccer for Niagara Falls United. Midfielder Jordyn Kemp comes to D&E from Smithville, Ontario, and will graduate from Grimsby Secondary School with honors.
Natives of West Virginia, Taylor Fealy and Maggie Fry, opponents throughout high school, will now play together for the Senators. Fealy, goalkeeper, played for Buckhannon-Upshur High School, where in 2011, she received B-U Soccer Academic Award, AAA All-State Soccer Honorable Mention, and was named to the AAA Big Ten Conference second team. Maggie Fry, midfielder/forward, played for Elkins High School. She lettered all four years in soccer and was named to the all-state second team.
These ten girls are sure to bring something fresh to the program. Adding each of their unique abilities with the experience of the returning twelve, the Senators can only hope for another chance at the Conference title.
The Senators will open the 2012 season on August 31 at Cedarville University in a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
