ELKINS, WV - The Davis & Elkins softball team will add eight members for the 2012-13 school year. The recruiting class includes seven freshmen and one junior college transfer. The girls join the Senators from Texas, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. "I could not be more excited about this recruiting class," said head coach Kimberly Stiles. "They are a talented group of young women and I cannot wait to get the team on the field this fall."
Junior transfer Amber Labille joins the D&E team following a stellar two year stint at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, Maryland. The right-handed hurler earned All-Conference, All-State and All-Tournament honors while at Chesapeake College. Labille attended Henry E. Lackey High School in Indian Head, Maryland, where she also played volleyball.
Chelsea Graham comes to D&E all the way from Springtown, Texas where she attended Boyd High School. She was an All-District catcher and earned MaxPreps Player of the Week honors. In addition to being an honor roll student, she was the President of the Boyd High School National Honor Society, Secretary of Student Council and a member of Who's Who Among All-American Scholars.
Amber Myers is an infielder from Boonsboro, Maryland and a graduate of Boonsboro High School. Myers earned All-Conference accolades as a junior and senior and was also a member of the volleyball team. Amber graduated with awards in accounting, finance and business management.
The Senators welcome two standouts from Virginia - Katelyn Norton and Kayla Whoolery. Norton is an infielder from Virginia Beach and a graduate of Princess Anne High School. She earned All-Conference accolades each of her four seasons and was an honor roll student. Whoolery, also an infielder and honor roll student, hails from Heritage High School in Leesburg, Virginia. Whoolery earned All-District honors all four season in addition to being named team MVP for her senior season accomplishments.
Three West Virginia players will join the Senators for the upcoming year. Chelsie Stover is an All-Confernce outfielder from Herbert Hoover High School in Elkview, West Virginia. Stover was a member of the National Honor Society and a member of Team USA that competed in the Netherlands. Briana Smith comes to D&E from Elkins High School in Elkins, West Virginia. Smith, an outfielder, also participated in track and basketball. Danielle Williams is a utility player from Webster County High School in Cowen, West Virginia. Williams was also a member of the National Honor Society and rounds out what looks to be a solid recruiting class. The Senators will open the 2013 campaign on February 9 against St. Augustine's College.
