SENATORS FALL TWICE ON FRIDAY IN SOFTBALL

FAIRMONT, WV - The Davis & Elkins softball team dropped two games to WVIAC foe Fairmont State on Friday.  The Falcons won 8-1 and 5-0.

In the first game of the day the Falcons used 13 hits to score eight runs off D&E pitcher Alanna Jones.  The Senators scored one run off of seven hits and left 11 runners on base.

Freshman Kaitlyn Daugherty and junior Carissa Dunn had two hits each for the Senators, while seniors Bridget Ours, Devony Pugh, and Lizzy Williamson had one hit each. 

Falcon pitcher Chelsea Cobb fanned seven over seven innings.

The Senators did not score in the second game and finished with just two hits as Fairmont State won 5-0.

Daugherty and Dunn recorded the hits for D&E while pitcher Autumn Appleby took the loss.  Appleby allowed five runs off eight hits and finished with three strikeouts.

D&E falls to 21-30 overall and 7-17 in the conference, while FSU improves to 28-19, 17-7.  The Senators will conclude their season tomorrow at Alderson-Broaddus, doubleheader action will start at 1 p.m. in Philippi.
